When will you understand

You selfish man
I am more than what you see
I am more than what you see
I am more than what you see

I left my home
And came to Rome
To be all that I could be
To be all that I could be
To be all that I could be

I’ve lived my life to be here right now
And I have learned along the way
I’ll paint the truth in pictures
Like graffiti on the walls of your city in decay

Why is physical attractiveness the characteristic that gives a woman the highest value as a mate? I can think of a lot of things that make a woman valuable as a life partner, and that is nowhere near the top. I guess it’s just another example of pathocratic values dominating society. With male pathocrats controlling the media, is it any wonder that women are constantly being bombarded with images that make them feel bad about themselves? Sexual images of girls and young women diminish their sense self worth, and teach men that girls and women are merely sexual objects to be used for their own, personal gratification.

It shouldn’t be surprising, under the circumstances, that it takes so long for women to get ready to leave the house. Most of us don’t make the mistake of thinking that our intelligence will compensate for a homely appearance. Why should we, when qualified women are being filtered out of high-level science, math and engineering jobs simply because of their gender? I loved the recent article by Rebecca Solnit, where she concludes:

After all, Women Strike for Peace was founded by women who were tired of making the coffee and doing the typing and not having any voice or decision-making role in the antinuclear movement of the 1950s. Most women fight wars on two fronts, one for whatever the putative topic is and one simply for the right to speak, to have ideas, to be acknowledged to be in possession of facts and truths, to have value, to be a human being. Things have certainly gotten better, but this war won't end in my lifetime. I'm still fighting it, for myself certainly, but also for all those younger women who have something to say, in the hope that they will get to say it.

Well, ain’t that the truth!

Women are discriminated against in almost every country around the world, a UN-commissioned report says. It says that this is despite the fact that 185 UN member states pledged to outlaw laws favouring men by 2005. It adds that 70% of the world's poor are women and they own just 1% of the world's titled land. The report, which was prepared for UN Human Right Commissioner Louise Arbour, says rape within marriage has still not been made a crime in 53 nations.

For another dose of statistics on discrimination against women, have a look here.

Now tell me, do you think it’s remotely possible that this could be happening by accident? What struck me is how an excerpt from this article on the neo-con agenda for world domination, could so easily be applied to women. In fact, with all the ways that women are subjugated, from the most brutal to the most subtle and insidious, I think it’s safe to say that women are seen as the enemy, by the pathocratic elite. I’ll get back to that later, though. For now, here’s the excerpt:

A war on terrorism provided the perfect tool; such a war can never be won, so the basis was in place for an eternal war. That was all that was needed to make the arms manufacturers happy and keep business moving; the economy would take care of itself. Or so they thought.

They believed the best way of winning over one's enemies would be to own them. Or to dominate them by military and economic means, if needed.

There are certainly numerous examples of how women have been dominated by both military and economic means.  There’s also something to be said for the influence of patriarchal religions, but I won’t get into that this time around. Here’s one of the ways the occupation in Gaza has affected Palestinian women:

Free the Women, Free the Whole Country: Women are suffering most from the occupation and economic collapse," she explains. "When the husband is out of work and at home all the time, he starts picking on his wife. For a lot of men, being unemployed and humiliated by the Israelis makes them show they are still in control somewhere - over their wives and children. Often violence breaks out.

Unfortunately, the same scenario also plays out in other environments, where men feel humiliated and disempowered. It’s just so much easier to take your aggressions out on someone weaker, isn’t it? So what’s the answer? Here’s one suggestion:

The Politics of Victimization: The answer is quite simple. They beat us because they are abusers. We can call it hate. We can call it fear. We can say it is unfair. But we are looped into the cycle of violence, and we need to start calling the dominating side what they are: abusive. And we need to recognize that we are the victims of verbal, mental, and even, in the case of Iraq, physical violence.

As victims we can't stop asking ourselves what we did wrong. We can't seem to grasp that they will keep hitting us and beating us as long as we keep sticking around and asking ourselves what we are doing to deserve the beating.

……How to break free?

Again, the answer is quite simple. First, you must admit you are a victim. Then, you must declare the state of affairs unacceptable. Next, you must promise to protect yourself and everyone around you that is being victimized. You don't do this by responding to their demands, or becoming more like them, or engaging in logical conversation, or trying to persuade them that you are right. You also don't do this by going catatonic and resigned, by closing up your ears and eyes and covering your head and submitting to the blows, figuring its over faster and hurts less is you don't resist and fight back. Instead, you walk away. You find other folks like yourself, 56 million of them, who are hurting, broken, and beating themselves up. You tell them what you've learned, and that you aren't going to take it anymore. You stand tall, with 56 million people at your side and behind you, and you look right into the eyes of the abuser and you tell him to go to hell. Then you walk out the door, taking the kids and gays and minorities with you, and you start a new life. The new life is hard. But it's better than the abuse.

Ok, but how do we find and bring together the 56 million??? I actually do have an idea, but I’ll get back to that later. Here are some more examples of deliberately dominating women by military means:

The Hard Hand of War: The military targeting of girls and women for sexual assault and rape has become the most extreme expression of this crisis. Whether involving U.S. grunts in Iraq or janjawid in Darfur, rape is an instrument of total war. Rape is a form of torture, especially targeted at females. It is intended to not only inflict pain, but to shame the victim by undermining her sense of personal dignity and self-identity. In addition to rape during total war, girls and women have been subject to increased reported incidents of forced prostitution and sex trafficking in non-war enclaves of intensifying globalization. These crimes illustrate how the scope of total war is expanding to everyday life. War is migrating from the remote battlefield to the urban downtown; from recognized conflicts between hostile armies to but another aspect of illicit commerce wrecking havoc on developing nations throughout the world. Total war is modernity's self-negation.

Is There a US Army Cover-up of Rape and Murder of Women Soldiers: But, now, even more alarming, are deaths of women soldiers in Iraq, and in the United States, following rape.

As if that’s not already bad enough, women continue to experience a lack of security in post conflict societies:

Peace Processes are Failing Women in a Men Dominated World: As societies emerge from conflict, men's dominance at all levels of decision-making ensures women never feel truly secure according to new research funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Moving on to economic means, we find that if mothers were to be paid for the work they do at home, they would earn an amount similar to a top U.S. ad executive, a marketing director or a judge. In 2007, the work of a stay-at-home mother had an annual monetary value of $138,095. If you’re thinking that single women fare better, keep in mind that:

How Dumb Are We?: Women in the United States are paid only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men; African-American women earn only 63 cents, and Latinas earn only 52 cents for every dollar paid to white men.

UK Single Women Work 43 Days a Year Overtime with No Pay: Single women are more likely to do unpaid overtime than any other workers. On average, single women in their thirties do 7.4 hours a week, equal to 43 days a year at their desks without being paid a penny.

The Feminine Face of Poverty: If you're a woman, or a man who cares about his mother, sister, or daughter, there's something you need to know. Seventy percent of those living in absolute poverty in our world -- that is starving or on the edge of starvation -- are female. Not only that, in our wealthy United States, women and children are the mass of the poor and the poorest of the poor.

So what is it about women that causes them to be seen as such dangerous enemies of the pathocracy, that they should be intentionally targeted for economic and military domination, reduced to soulless pieces of property deprived of the right to freely express themselves, and the right to be heard in political, religious, and scientific arenas, as well as in their own homes? If you’ve got some ideas please don’t hesitate to post a comment. If not, stay tuned for Part II, and I’ll tell you mine.

I am one, I am one, I am one of many

I am one, I am one, I am one of many
In the free will zone

I teach, I learn, I melt, I burn,
I do, I don’t have any
I am on a road that turns to gold,
and yearns for pennies
In the free will zone

Sometimes, I’m floating like a cloud
Sometimes, I have to cry out loud
Sometimes, I feel alone in the crowd
In the free will zone

You are one, you are one, you are one or another
You are one, you are one, you are one or another
In the free will zone

You will see what you know
You will be discovered
What to do, where to go
The truth will be uncovered
In the free will zone

It’s fine, if you want to take your time
Sometimes, you’ve got to change your mind
Do you want to be deaf, dumb and blind?
In the free will zone

There’s no question that life in 3D involves making choices, nor is there any doubt that our beliefs often influence our choices. Despite the fact that our freedom of choice seems to be rapidly decreasing in terms of the food we eat, the places we go,the environment we live in, the medical treatment we do or do not receive, the information we exchange, and the laws that govern our lives, there are some choices that remain untouched. One being the choice to cheat or not to. It has been found that belief in free will is a deterrence to cheating.

So what is cheating? That depends on your point of view I suppose. Perhaps some would say that it’s a question of breaking the rules, but what if the rules are unfair? Others might say it’s a question of dishonesty, but should you tell the truth to people who will only use it against you? You could say it’s a matter of taking more than you give, but what about the people who start out with less than everyone else? Like so many other things, cheating can only be defined clearly by considering a specific situation.

Ultimately, we can see ourselves as an extension of everything that exists, and show respect for life by maintaining a balance between ourselves and everything else, without always being forthright about our intentions, and in spite of sometimes breaking the rules. Given the fact that cheaters do exist, and are often the ones making the rules, invading our privacy, and swindling us out of what is rightfully ours, it’s important to have a means of protecting ourselves without being forced to stoop to their level. Even if we sometimes fall short of being fair, we can at least make an effort to avoid needlessly hurting other beings.

Cheating, if you ask me, is projecting an image of laudable, good works and generosity while simultaneously oppressing the weak, silencing the strong, and raping the vulnerable. How are we to bring cheaters to account when they’ve got weapons stockpiled, and control of our resources?

Just how free are we? Well, to some extent, that depends on how attached we are to our physical bodies. There are some liberating forms of self expression that are bound to attract negative attention from those who have a wanton appetite for luxury gained through bloodshed and slave labor. However, as long as we can see the truth about our reality, we are free to choose. It’s only when we deceive ourselves that we find ourselves in situations that we aren’t prepared for, which is what happened to Hope Steffey. There was a time when the police could usually be trusted to help resolve conflicts, protect children and the elderly, and generally just make people feel safer. Those days are over.

Thanks to the internet, we have access to information that reveals the truth about police brutality, increasing surveillance, violation of constitutional rights, and all manner of revealing tidbits being swept under the rug. This information gives us the freedom to choose, because it allows us to see who’s cheating. Who’s posing as a spiritual teacher while preying on their flock, who’s posing as a democrat while sucking up to monied interests, and who’s preaching the fundamentals of sound economics while bankrupting governments the world over.

Is it any surprise that everywhere you look you find whistleblowers being thrown to the wolves, and beacons of truth being hampered by legal suits? As long as we know the truth, we have the freedom to choose. Personally, I’d sooner choose a quick physical death and a free spirit, than a long physical life without the hope of ever expressing my creative spirit’s love for the truth. Of course, I really hope it doesn’t come to that, and I’m not ready to part with my body just yet. It’s just that I can see that as a future possibility. If there aren’t enough people who choose to keep the truth alive here on planet earth, it will surely become a hell – for many it already is.

I can’t begin to explain how my life changed when I finally had the chance to get a glimpse of what was being censored by corporate sponsored news, and commercial publishers. It was shocking, incredibly difficult to absorb, and also the most empowering experience I’ve ever had. The truth hurts, yes, but only because it’s painful to give up our illusions. Just remember that when the tyrants in charge are confident that they have completely seized the reigns of power, they won’t bother playing make believe anymore. So our illusions are going to have to go sooner or later. I say let’s get rid of them now, and unite to help those beacons of truth keep shining. Haven’t we had enough of those cozy lies that keep us just barely alive?

I can see so many faces
All of them me
I can make them anything
I want them to be

Be love tonight
Love knows all about feeling
So set your feelings free
I’ll hold you dear in the heart of my love
So you can be with me

There’s no place left to go
There’s nothing left to do
I want you to know
I am here with you

I can see the child and the lover
No one else can see
Blackened by the years of pain
Waiting for me

For me to shine my light
And say that it will be alright
Sadness has its own beauty
So let your teardrops fall
When we float away on that ocean of tears
It won’t hurt at all

There’s no place left to go
There’s nothing left to do
I want you to know
I am here with you

There are many names for that special part of a person that sees, knows, and waits for an invitation to bestow wisdom upon the soul who sincerely, and fearlessly cries out for truth – the silent watcher, the witness, the still, small voice, etc. This part of us knows all our secrets, and our dreams. It sees our weaknesses and strengths. It knows the solution to all our problems – what must be sacrificed, and what must be acquired, what must be purged, and what must be held dear and protected. It knows we are here to learn, and it knows there are many paths to learning. It does not scold us for our choices, or try to intervene. However, when we see ourselves through its eyes, we may scold ourselves as we finally become aware of our own shortcomings.

On the other hand, the gift of the silent watcher’s special vision may allow us to experience compassion for ourselves as we notice how often we’ve been undermined, coerced, tricked, and manipulated into forgetting who we are, and what we are meant to be doing. The silent watcher gives us the special ability to be both child and parent, patient and healer, teacher and student, master and servant, loving and loved, through the union of energy and matter, heart and mind, heaven and earth. Its right there inside of us watching, waiting, knowing. One day we will be reunited with it, once and for all.

It’s not my problem
It’s not my fate
It’s not my way of thinking
There is no debate
Catch me when the moon is full
I’ll be dancing to a different tune

Beneath the surface
Memory is in motion
When the tide is high
I’ll be testing your devotion
Life is never ending
Do you want to catch a falling star

I’m not too far from heaven
I’m not too far from hell
I lost my fortune
In the bottom of a wishing well
Do you want to take a dive
You’ll be dancing to a different tune

Beneath the surface
Memory is in motion
When the tide is high
You’ll be testing my devotion
Life is never ending
Do you want to catch a falling star

With my Sun in Sagittarius it’s not surprising that I am an adventurer who loves traveling. Like unexplored territory, unfamiliar words can be mysterious and alluring as they offer the opportunity to discover the secrets of a timeless, unifying force, that lives and expresses itself in and through us. One such word, that fascinated me for many years, is the word ‘subconscious’. What mystified me more than anything, was how so few people I came into contact with could define it clearly. I knew it was associated with memory and dreaming, and being someone with a vivid dream life, that only served to pique my interest even more.

Once I started studying astrology, I discovered that the subconscious is represented by the moon in one’s natal chart. The moon rules the sign of Cancer, which is associated with motherhood and family, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there is a significant increase in births each day when the moon is passing directly overhead. Lyall Watson, who has been involved in anthropology, archaeology, palaeontology, marine biology, and medical research, tells us the following in is book, ‘Supernature’:

“Eugen Jonas of Czechoslovakia has discovered that the time of ovulation is connected with the moon, and that the ability of a mature woman to conceive coincides with the phase of the moon that prevailed when she was born. He has set up a service in several Eastern European countries that provides each woman with a chart based on her own lunar affinities. Used as a contraceptive measure, these charts have proved to be 98 percent effective – which is as good as The Pill, and with no side effects. Of course the charts also give a woman notice of all those days in her life on which she can conceive, and they are now being used extensively to ensure fertilization as well as to avoid it.[…]

[….]Two American Air Force scientists have recently shown that it is possible to influence the cycle with an artificial moon. They selected twenty women with a history of chronic menstrual irregularity and persuaded them to leave their bedroom lights on all night on the three days closest to ovulation. All the women menstruated exactly fourteen days later, so perhaps the moon still influences menstrual bleeding quite strongly.

There is definitely a close connection between the moon and bleeding in general. Superstition has it that the moon controls blood flow in the same way that it controls the tides. When blood letting was a customary form of medical treatment, it was always done when the moon was waning, for it was believed that it was too dangerous to let blood when the light was increasing and the tide beginning to flood. This superstition may be founded in fact. Edson Andrews of Tallahassee reports that in a survey of over a thousand ‘bleeders’ – patients needing unusual means of hemostasis on the operating table or having to be returned to the theater because of hemorrhaging – 82 percent of all the bleeding crises occurred between the first and last quarters of the moon, with a significant peak when the moon was full. Dr Andrews ends his report with the comment: “These data have been so conclusive and convincing to me that I threaten to become a witch doctor and operate on dark nights only, saving the moonlit nights for romance.”

Considering the effect the moon has on the tides, it makes sense that Cancer is a water sign. Water, like emotions, is not so easily contained. Droplets of water are instantaneously united at the slightest touch, and whatever was once confined to the individual droplet becomes shared by all. Memories can also be transferred between people. When I was very young my mother once made a birthday cake in the form of a carousel, complete with carnival horses suspended on striped straws under a canopy of candy lights. It was a beautiful sight for a young child to behold, truly the makings of an unforgettable birthday, but was it my birthday or my sister’s? Each of us claims the cake as her own, yet there was only one cake.

Memory is a fascinating subject in itself. It’s amazing how a smell, a color, a quality of touch, or a tone of voice can bring us back to our childhoods. The not so fun part about it is that we are often unaware that this journey is happening, and instead of realizing that we are experiencing the suppressed emotions of some traumatic experience in the past, we often point an accusing finger at the unlucky person who triggered the memory.

Have you ever noticed yourself acting irrationally – over reacting to something trivial? Have you gone even one step further and watched yourself unleash a torrent of verbiage to justify your behavior? Did you, by any chance, stop and wonder what the real reason for your reaction was? According to Harvard Psychologist, Martha Stout, you could be experiencing a dissociative ego state, or even a dissociative identity.

In her book, ‘The Myth of Sanity’, she tells the story of Kenneth, who, due to being a foreigner, was often a victim of school bullies during his childhood. Fortunately for Kenneth, his circumstances eventually changed. In fact, now that he is grown with a son of his own, he doesn’t even remember most of what happened back then. Nonetheless, his dissociative ego state kicks in when he visits the World Trade Center, and has to deal with his intense fear of heights. She writes:

“But he continues to be suspicious and angry at everything, into the evening at home. He thinks he may have had this peculiar feeling before, once or twice, and knowing he is in the mood to pick a fight, he avoids his wife. He has trouble falling asleep, because he is ruminating about all the things in his life that are making him mad. [….]

[….]Struggling with the influence of a dissociated ego state is a fairly common experience, and one that is nearly always misattributed (“I’m in such a strange mood today,” and “I’ve got to snap out of this,” etc.). [….]

[…]The difference between being affected by an ego state, like Kenneth, and switching completely to a dissociative identity, as in dissociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder), is that a person merely influenced by a dissociative ego state retains an observing ego, which is simply the capacity to observe and evaluate one’s self. Kenneth’s observing ego (a faculty that he continues to perceive as a part of Kenneth, as an aspect of his true and usual self) realizes that something unusual is happening to Kenneth’s internal experience, and takes what measures it can to subvert the alien feelings and thoughts, and to direct Kenneth’s behavior in a mainly Kenneth-like fashion. When dissociated ego states are triggered, whether one retains or loses the observing ego is a crucial distinction. It makes the difference between being uncomfortably divided within one’s self, like Kenneth, and being utterly replaced for a while by an “alter ego.””

She calls people with alter egos ‘switchers’, and describes the devastating effect they have on those closest to them.

“Having been switched to, an alternate personality does not respond to cajoling from other people, to outcry, or even to the most desperate pleas for a return to “normal”. (In other words, when someone has lost his observing ego, you cannot tell him much.) Unlike the phenomenon of “moodiness,” which may very well accommodate the needs of other people, or react to a favorable turn of events, a dissociative identity is impermeable. Once in place, it has a life of its own, in the most fascinating and frustrating sense of that phrase. And after an unpredictable interval of time, independently of anyone else’s efforts, or of changes in circumstance, it seems to disappear on its own.

Often there can be a crazy-making holographic effect for a life partner, a child, or a close friend: the switcher is loving/vicious/loving/vicious, or wise/infantile/wise/infantile, or noble/corrupt/noble/corrupt. This fluttering perception never resolves; the question, “What is this person really like?” is never conclusively answered. And in the end, a switcher whom one loves dearly can seem to be simultaneously one’s best friend, and in some peculiar ineffable way, one’s most terrible enemy.”

Astrologically, switching is likely to be characterized by planets or stelliums in opposition as a major feature of the chart. It’s no secret that our personalities and habits are shaped by our experiences good and bad, but, unlike tribal cultures, we easily forget that the experiences of our ancestors, which are recorded over generations in our DNA, are largely responsible for characteristics and tendencies that are hard wired in us at birth. Of course, we are quite accustomed to recognizing physical similarities, talents, and basic personality traits, but how many people realize that they have also inherited psychological baggage, and unfinished business from previous generations?  In her fascinating book, ‘The Astrology of Family Dynamics’, Erin Sullivan writes:

“What seems to happen, after having explored many family patterns in hundreds of ways, is that there seems to be a slight flow which develops into a steady stream that begins to demonstrate a very tight and repetitive pattern. Then in one person’s chart it becomes critical, the pattern or the flow dams up, and a bottleneck begins to develop in family patterning, lodging in one person – the one who is the pivotal individual in the entire constellation of the family. As I say many times in the course of the material to follow, the mystery lies in why this happens to a person; it does, however, and that person is always aware of it but often does not get validation of his or her feelings until an astrologer finds that their story is not only true but is also mapped out in the heavens.

The fact that we are made up of many people, dating back ad infinitum, helps us understand ourselves better. Our parents had parents, and so on. And we carry all those who went before us in our psyches, but specifically we carry certain aspects of them more strongly than others. People who are deeply fixated on the theory that the aetiology of all neurosis lies primarily in the parents, or in the matrix of the nuclear family, will be unsettled by some of the attitudes in this book – it does not lie in the realm of responsibility of one or two hapless individuals, though they may have had a good hand in our fate. The purpose of this way of viewing things is to liberate both parents and children from absolute personal responsibility for each other and to encourage more independence – paradoxically, by stressing their intra-dependence!”

I can certainly vouch for that, being someone with a double cross in fixed and mutable signs. Imagine how the puzzle pieces started falling into place when I discovered that the strongest themes in my life had already been lived by my mother, my grandmother and my great grandmother (That comes with a Pluto conjunct Asc. square Moon conjunct IC, by the way). The more information I collected about the preceding generations, the more the picture of my psychological interior came into focus, and the easier it became to move towards getting rid of unnecessary baggage, and taking care of unfinished business by way of self observation and the subsequent integration of dissociative ego states/identities.

Getting back to tribal cultures, the healing art of the Aztecs that has been passed down through generations is called ‘curandismo’, and it includes methods for treating not only physical ailments, but also spiritual ones. 'Susto', or soul loss is commonly treated with a soul retrieval ceremony. It appears that the Aztecs had psychological knowledge of what is referred to as dissociation, and a way of reintegrating dissociative ego states and identities. Elena Avila, a psychiatric nurse and 'curandera' describes a group soul retrieval in her book, ‘Woman Who Glows in the Dark’.

“In one soul retrieval, I had asked all the participants to bring a doll with them that symbolized the lost part of their soul. I instructed them to carry that doll with them throughout the whole weekend experience - to sleep with it and take it into the cafeteria for meals.

On a Sunday afternoon, we did a soul retrieval. With their heads toward the center of the circle, each person lay down and made him or herself comfortable. My assistants and I were in the inner circle and the participants surrounded us like the spokes of a wheel. My helpers played various percussion and musical instruments, such as drums and rain sticks, and the workshop participants held their dolls to their hearts as I guided them into a shamanic journey. I led them to their animal and human guides, and asked these spiritual beings to find the lost soul part and to bring it back to the man or woman. After all of the participants returned from their journey, I asked them to give me their dolls. As I sat there surrounded by all of them, I felt like one of those clay Pueblo figurines of a mama sitting with babies all around her.

One at a time, I held up a doll, and said, “Who is this?”. Each person would say his name, and then tell the group about the part of his soul that the doll represented. For example, someone might say, “Pablito is very shy and felt ashamed since he was a little boy because he is so dark skinned. The kids at school used to make fun of him, calling him ‘negrito.’ When I went on my journey, I found him all alone in a corner, huddled up in a fetal position, sobbing. I went to him held him in my arms, and comforted him, telling him that I’m not going to let anyone hurt him anymore. I told him it was ok that he was so dark skinned, that he is beautiful just the way he is.”

There are certain things human beings have to learn as a gut-level body experience. We can’t learn everything with our intellects. Even though it had been embarrassing for these thirty well-educated health-care practitioners to carry a doll around with them all day, in front of all the other people who were attending workshops at Ghost Ranch that weekend, by the end of their soul retrievals, they were hugging that doll as if it were a real part of themselves. This experience always reminds me of the story ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’. When the rabbit asked the wise Skin Horse, “Does it hurt to be real?” the Skin Horse answered, “Sometimes,” for he always told the truth. But he also added, “When you are real, you don’t mind being hurt.” It is always infinitely better for human beings to suffer the pain of finding out who they really are because the rewards and freedoms always outweigh the pain they have to undergo to get there.”

So it is, but until we are ready to become conscious of the fragmented and conflictual state of our being, and make an effort to once again become whole through self observation, and integration, we can thank the moon for keeping our memories in tact even if somewhat out of reach, until we find the inner strength and courage to embark on our own, unique, shamanic soul retrieval journey, face our demons, and in so doing grasp the liberating truth of who we really are.

Who will be the ones to make it right
Who will be the ones to give up the fight
The world could even change from black to white
If all the greedy people could learn wrong from right

I wanna change the world but I don’t know what to do
Everyone I meet has got a different point of view
I think it can be done
Do you think that I’m a hopeless dreamer
Wouldn't it be fun if there wasn’t any war and we all knew how to share
And money didn’t matter anymore

I feel like I’m walkin’ on a slippery tight rope
I don’t know how much longer I can cope
If you’ve ever lived in foreign land
This is surely something you’ll understand

I wanna change the world but I don’t know what to do
All around the world there are different points of view
I think it can be done
Maybe I’m a hopeless dreamer
But wouldn’t it be fun if there wasn’t any war and we all knew how to share
And religion didn’t matter anymore

Everybody’s scrambling to get ahead
I wonder if they’ll get there before they’re dead
Nobody’s got the time to think about
How we are destroying what we can’t live without

If you wanna change the world one thing you can do
Is start taking care of what's taking care of you
The forest and the seas, the animals, the air we breathe
Are suffering
We are a part of Gaia and she is a part of us
Nationality shouldn’t matter anymore

Are we having fun yet? Interesting question, I mean, are we so numb that we need to ask? Are we seeking reassurance that all is well in an attempt to ignore the nagging sensation of impending doom? Are we so jaded and sarcastic that it’s simply a rhetorical question that is being silently answered with a resounding ‘NO’ reverberating from the galactic center with a shudder, even as the depraved desire to violently dominate all life extends still further out into space?

Would it be too far fetched to say that the only ones who are having fun at this stage of the game are the people who are either incapable or unwilling to imagine the consequences of the sustained exploitation and imbalance of the planet we are living on? Let’s face it, things aren’t going well in our corner of the Universe. Gaia is suffering from a debilitating lack of balance and she’s angry. There are some who say there’s no hope - she’s gone beyond the point of no return. Certainly, that’s the case for the numerous species that have become extinct at an alarmingly accelerating rate.

When considering the state of things, it’s easy to point the finger at the greedy, conscienceless predators that instigate conflicts to gain outcomes beneficial only to themselves, justify pre-emption and perpetrate wars of aggression, pollute the environment, capitalize on disaster, starve and torture humanity, develop and distribute harmful technology, foster ignorance, and lie through their teeth, but that’s only one side of the coin.

The other side of the coin is everybody else, who like elk, in the absence of predators, lose their instinctual cautiousness and develop behavior that will endanger them in the event that they should once again become prey.

I always had difficulty watching wildlife documentaries when it got to the part where some unfortunate creature was about to get eaten, but it is said that predatory feeding contributes to eco-system balance, keeping any one species from overrunning all the others. When a species lacks a predator they often proliferate until they exhaust the food supply, at which point their numbers rapidly decrease.

The sad truth is that the often well-meaning, but ignorant masses have become easy prey, and their predators are getting fat and lazy – no longer bothering to camouflage themselves before moving in for the kill. Human predatory behavior has been documented thousands of years back into history. Nonetheless, there have been times when social norms more accurately reflected the values of those with conscience, and predatory behavior did not so easily evade detection. In small, tightly knit communities, repeat offenders were seen for what they were and effectively deterred.

Is it any wonder that our elite rulers prefer to let us proliferate in ignorance, and then heartlessly kill us off rather than educate us on sustainable living, when it makes it so much easier for them to rise above the masses without having their devious ways detected?

Yet, regardless of their preference, we are fully capable of choosing to learn how to behave ethically – how to be balanced, and live within our means. We don’t have to make the mistake of valuing twisted social ‘norms’ and comfort over genuine well being. We don’t have to fall prey to their manipulations, we can refuse to be divided and conquered. We can restore our protective instincts by listening to the voice of reason guided by the heart of acceptance for what is, predators and all.

Like a laser light that is split into two beams to form a hologram, could it be that God Consciousness is split into two polarities to create our 3D experience? Perhaps in the grand scheme of things, there are two polar networks that, combined, create an intricate system of checks and balances.

If the macrocosm really is mirrored in the microcosm, then perhaps we can liken these two networks to the Sheng, and Ko cycle in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Sheng Cycle is nurturing and creative, and the Ko Cycle is destructive and controlling. The two cycles are meant to maintain a balanced relationship between the 5 elements – fire, earth, metal, water, and wood, which each correspond to different spiritual, emotional, mental and physical functions.

Each element also has a yin/yang polarity within itself. When there is an excess of a particular element, and/or a yin/yang imbalance, the Ko (dominating) cycle becomes overactive, and further exacerbates the overall imbalance, weakening still more elements. If the Ko cycle remains overactive long enough, it eventually moves into the insulting phase, and becomes self-destructive.

What’s more, the Shen cycle can become reversed and instead of being nourishing and creative, it exhausts and depletes. These dynamics can also be applied to economics. After perusing the last link, you may recognize our world economy by and large as having reversed both cycles. That double reversal also applies to the environment, and politics.

Narrowing the focus, it also characterizes the type of relationship that develops between a person with psychopathic traits, and a normal person who is unaware of, or unwilling to confront, the intentionally dominating and exploitative nature of the other.

So what’s the cure? The yin and yang, or heaven and earth, must be brought into balance by removing aggressive energy and/or possession, and the 5 elements must be brought back into balance through the transference of energy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine this is done with acupuncture, moxibustion (the heating of specific points), diet, and herbs.

On a planetary scale that would be like removing the psychopaths in power, restoring the values of those with conscience, cleaning up the environment, and redistributing resources fairly. It sounds like a big, but not impossible job. Like the 'Whos' in ‘Horton Hears a Who’, shouting “We’re here! We here! We’re here!!!”, everyone counts. There can be no slackers if we mean to break through the clouds of denial. United and working together, perhaps we can create a new balance that allows life on our planetary home to thrive.

Wouldn’t that be fun!

Everyone wants to be listened to

Believe in yourself you can turn the sky blue

You need to know you're not alone
Don't let ignorance get you down
Take back your mind
Don't ever let go
Change the whole world with the magic of sound

Everyone wants to see the blue sky
Transmute chemtrails so our spirits can fly

You need to know you're not alone
Don't let chemtrails get you down
Take back your mind
Don't ever let go
Change the whole world with the magic of sound

Everyone wants to see through lies
Expose deception watch evil die

You need to know you're not alone
Don't let deception get you down
Take back your mind
Don't ever let go
Change the whole world with the magic of sound

Everyone wants to feel good inside
Be full of love and have nothing to hide

You need to know you're not alone
Don't let secrets get you down
Take back your mind
Don't ever let go
Change the whole world with the magic of sound

Did you know that the earth has its own natural frequency resonance? It’s called the Schumann Resonance. In 1957, German physicist Dr W. O. Schumann calculated the resonance frequencies in the cavity between the earth and the ionosphere. He fixed the most predominant standing wave at about 7.83 Hz, a wave approximately equal to the circumference of the Earth at 40,000 km and roughly an F sharp on the musical scale.

It was subsequently discovered that this also happens to be the frequency of the human brain and heart when in a state of deep relaxation. At this frequency, human consciousness is on the threshold of the alpha state, relaxed but wakeful with one foot still in delta dreamland. It has been said that the Schumann Resonance is a unifying frequency and a doorway to the planetary mind, because of its capability of entraining and phase locking with the brain waves of all mammals. Entrainment is the process of synchronization, where vibrations of one object will cause the vibrations of another object to oscillate at the same rate.

The Schumann resonance is too low to be detected by the human ear, but it can be felt as a series of rhythmic pulses. On the opposite side of the spectrum, there’s ultra sound, which has been found to accelerate the healing of bones, and has been used experimentally in the levitation of small animals. In the absence of gravity, less intense sound waves are required for levitation, this is considered a viable option for producing perfect glass lenses without the use of a container. If you’re interested in the physics of it, have a look here.

Of course, sounds in the range of human hearing also have their magic. South Korean scientists claim crops grow faster when exposed to classical music. Music, Mozart in particular, has also been used to enhance learning and intuition, and overcome learning disabilities. To add a bit of my own personal experience, here’s a little story about a couple of musicians I once knew: He was the head of the jazz department at Sonoma State University, the double bass player, Mel Graves. She was a bassoonist with the Los Angeles Symphony. They had a son who was about one and a half years old when I stayed with them many years ago, during the Reed College music festival in Oregon. He was a great little guy with the peculiar habit of clapping after hearing recordings he particularly liked, which always turned out to be Mozart! I can also personally attest to the healing power of music, especially singing, but I didn’t realize until recently that people can literally get a tune up with a treatment that uses tuning forks on acupuncture meridians.

Getting back to the ionosphere, you may not be aware of what’s been going on over your head and in your head, or why, but I think it’s high time people take back their minds and start talking about it. I’m talking about chemtrails and HAARP. There’s been a lot of speculation about the true purpose of chemtrails, those airplane trails that spread out and cover the sky with an unnatural haze, but if you have a look at the HAARP patent it may become apparent to you that the two were meant to work together. There’s also been a lot of speculation about the intended uses of HAARP, but keeping in mind (no pun intended) what you now know about entrainment, consider the possible implications of the military having the power to change the Earth’s frequency resonance at will. That’s right, planetary mind control.

Control issues, and the music being made between the negative pole of the earth and the positive pole of the ionosphere is not only scientific, it’s also mythical. Consider the myth of Gaia and Uranus. After having given him birth, Gaia mated with Uranus and they had both numerous, and various types of children, some of whom were rather monstrous and the cause of serious conflicts, which culminated in the castration of Uranus by his son Saturn, one of the Titans. You see, Uranus had banished some of his children to Tartarus in the bowels of Mother Earth far from the light of day, because they had attempted to rebel against him.

In modern day astrology Uranus is considered the higher octave of mercury, or you could say the superconscious mind. Uranus is also the ruler of the sign Aquarius, which is associated with the realization of dreams by way of pure knowledge in the form of innovative ideas, and inventions, as well as freedom from conformity, mass consciousness and dogmatic ideologies.

The myth of Prometheus is also associated with Uranus and Aquarius. Prometheus sought to narrow the prosperity gap between humanity and the gods. He tricked Zeus into taking only the bones and the fat of a sacrificial bull, while leaving the meat for humanity. When Zeus discovered he’d been had, he retaliated by insisting that humanity eat their meat raw, and withheld the gift of fire. In still another act of rebellion and creative genius, Prometheus waited for the chariot of the sun to pass by Mt. Olympus, and ignited a fennel stalk with divine fire, which he subsequently brought to humankind. Prometheus paid dearly for his rebellion, however. He was chained to a mountaintop, where an eagle would rip out his liver, only for it to grow right back again, so the whole process could be endlessly repeated. It was Chiron, the wounded healer, who eventually freed Prometheus.

Although it’s not clear exactly when, we are presumably entering the age of Aquarius if we haven’t already. I find that interesting since the sign of Aquarius is also associated with the civilization of Atlantis, which was possibly destroyed by the Titans' misuse of advanced technology, in a war against humanity. It seems like we are very much on the brink of disaster due to the misuse of technology today. Much like Zeus and the other Titans, our elitist rulers are resentful of anyone who should dare attempt to reduce the prosperity gap between themselves and the masses, and they are prepared to do just about anything to deny us the gift of divine fire. They want to keep us quiet, and cut off from the cosmic, creative force that could truly free us from their oppression. Not only do they engage in psychological warfare, they now have technology for that specific purpose, which is virtually undetectable.

Speaking of advanced technology, how about the incredible feats of Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid at Giza. In ‘Secret History of the World and How to Get out Alive’ Laura Knight Jadczyk writes:

In the oldest archaeological finds, the Goddess was represented by birds and wavy symbols that indicated water and/or energy. These same wavy lines are retained as the symbol of the Astrological sign of Aquarius which may be the oldest extant symbol of the Great Mother Goddess.

But suddenly, at a certain point, around 5000 years ago, serpents became associated with the goddess, and the wavy lines of water/energy were transmogrified to snakes. What happened to bring about this association? By 4000 BC, Goddess figures appeared at Ur and Uruk, both on the southern end of the Euphrates river, not far from the Persian Gulf. At about this same period, the Neolithic Badarian and Amaratian cultures of Egypt first appeared. It is at these sites that agriculture first emerged in Egypt.

From that point on, with the invention of writing, history as we know it, emerged in both Sumer and Egypt - about 3000 BC. (5000 years ago!) In every area of the Near and Middle East, the Goddess was known in historic times. It seems clear that many changes must have taken place in both the forms and modes of worship, but, in various ways, the worship of the Goddess survived into classical Greece and Rome. It was not totally suppressed until the time of the Christian emperors of Rome and Byzantium, who closed the last Goddess Temples about 500 AD.

It appears that the Goddess ruled alone in the beginning, though she was “married” to the king via a human female representative. Thus, the son or brother who was also her lover and consort was part of the goddess religion in much earlier times. This individual was also truly “Semitic” in the sense of being half human and half divine. Later, as the corruption crept in - seemingly after some dramatic, cataclysmic event - it was this youth - known in various languages as Damuzi, Tammuz, Attis, Adonis, Osiris or Baal - who died in his youth causing an annual period of grief and lamentation among those who paid homage to the Goddess. For a very long time, this myth was annually enacted representing the fact that time was cyclical the same way the seasons were. It was the passing down of the knowledge of cyclical catastrophes connected to cyclical time. The world might end, but if it did, it was only because it had “run down” and needed to be “wound up” again.

But something changed all that. Somehow, the perception of the End of the World became a terrible punishment that might be prevented by savage sacrifices. And the sub-text of this idea was that time was linear and would end, finally and completely. This idea was brought with the invaders from the South, the murderers of the
Goddess, the rapers of the Maidens of the Wells: the dominator religion that drove the sword into the stone.

There is a contrast throughout her book between the civilizations that worshiped the Goddess with circular monolithic structures, and civilizations based on a male dominated hierarchy represented by the pyramids they left behind, and how the latter overcame the former. Her painstaking research provides support in the form of numerous references and excerpts, for the idea that both of these civilizations had access to an ancient technology involving math, geometry and sound that resulted in the mastery of time, space, and gravity. An ancient technology that provides an explanation for all the incredible monolithic structures around the globe, and that was, at one time, used for the benefit of the Earth and all of humanity.

Clearly, that is no longer the case, and yet despite the fact that the most highly developed technology is now used for the purposes of control and destruction, there are still a few people outside the halls of power, who have somehow managed to discover its secrets. Take Edward Leedskalnin, who built the Coral Castle perhaps using sound and his rotating magnetic device, or Kohei Minato – a musician that invented an over unity, magnetic motor on the basis of ideas he got while playing the piano. So, it appears that Prometheus is alive and well. It just remains to be seen if technology, and the magic of sound will become our ultimate destruction or our deliverance in the modern age of Aquarius.

To close I'd just like to clarify my song lyrics a bit. I wrote them when I just started coming to grips with the whole chemtrail/HAARP phenomena. It was depressing to say the least. Everyone I talked to about it was skeptical that such an outrageous thing could possibly be happening. I felt so alone. I was pondering one of the common intimidation tactics used by bullies to shut people up, which is to say things like: 'Everybody knows...., Everybody likes...., Everybody thinks....', when it occurred to me that I could turn it all around.

Unfortunately, the 'Everyone' in my song lyrics does not apply to everyone on the face of this planet, as you have probably realized after having read this article. It essentially applies to people of conscience, who care about each other and the planet they are living on. The lyrics were simply meant to be a reminder to me that whether I am in direct contact with them or not, there is a group of like minded others that aren't afraid to face their own ignorance, secrets, and self-deception, nor are they afraid to expose the aforementioned in their leaders. These are the people who understand the magic of sound.

On the run from doomsday, psychologically
Global war, we’ve been there before
We’re victims of technology
Fighting what we cannot see
The twisted ideology of the elite

Have a look at your beliefs
What do they do for you
Could it be, they stop you from seeing
What is really true?
From breaking out of the zoo
And running free

On the run from doomsday, catastrophic prophecies
Another way to take your rights away
Make you live like a machine
While they destroy the blue and green
Making lots of harmful things that we don’t need

Are you a slave or are you free?
It’s your responsibility
To understand reality
It doesn’t come so easily
It will shake you up
Spin you around
Turn you inside out and upside down

Have you been feeling on edge lately? Having a hard time coping? It could be a reaction to shock therapy designed to reduce you to a state of hysteria, so the powers that be can usurp even more power in the guise of giving you protection and establishing order.

The problem is, a lot of people are waking up. In the past, it was enough to provide ornate houses of worship, hypnotic ritual, threaten the flocks with the wrath of God, and promise salvation to the obedient, to control the masses. Sure, there are still some getting high on religion, but when the flocks started dwindling down, the powers that be were quick on their feet in offering a number of alternatives.

It is always some form of deception they use to make us feel powerless, because in reality we are more numerous and more capable of true unity than they are. Who are ‘they’? They are wolves ‘In Sheep’s Clothing', who prey on those of conscience.

They make drug use illegal, all the while controlling the drug market and using the proceeds to fund illegal wars and secret technology that are used by the few to control the many. Racially profiled drug users are thrown in the slammer and given criminal records, while others, after having been glamorized by the film and music industry, are left free to skip blindly, and merrily down the road to destruction, seducing still others into the haze along their way.

If you are looking for an escape from reality, and drugs or religion isn’t your thing, then just go shopping. After all, when your subconscious is getting programmed by television commercials, it just comes naturally to blow money on things that you don’t need, or even really want.

Of course, that’s a little problematic given the economy these days. You may be working more and earning less, but they have come up with another way to keep you in line. Besides the fact that you are probably already too busy just trying to put food on the table to contemplate an effective means of bringing about change, you risk being labeled a terrorist for doing so much as advocating peace.

What’s next? Some people say World War III, others say a fake, or real alien invasion. Personally, I’m hoping for a wide scale de-cloaking of the wolves, but I think in order for that to happen a significant number of people of conscience will have to wake up and realize that we are little more than sheep being herded by an evil magician, as Ouspensky writes in 'In Search of the Miraculous':

"There is an Eastern tale which speaks about a very rich magician who had a great many sheep. But at the same time this magician was very mean. He did not want to hire shepherds, nor did he want to erect a fence about the pasture where his sheep were grazing. The sheep consequently often wandered into the forest, fell into ravines, and so on, and above all they ran away, for they knew that the magician wanted their flesh and skins and this they did not like."

"At last the magician found a remedy. He hypnotized his sheep and suggested to them first of all that they were immortal and that no harm was being done to them when they were skinned, that, on the contrary, it would be very good for them and even pleasant; secondly he suggested that the magician was a good master who loved his flock so much that he was ready to do anything in the world for them; and in the third place he suggested to them that if anything at all were going to happen to them it was not going to happen just then, at any rate not that day, and therefore they had no need to think about it. Further the magician suggested to his sheep that they were not sheep at all; to some of them he suggested that they were lions, to others that they were eagles, to others that they were men, and to others that they were magicians. "

"And after this all his cares and worries about the sheep came to an end. They never ran away again but quietly awaited the time when the magician would require their flesh and skins."

It’s a painful realization. We are not in control of ourselves. We are fenced in, herded this way and that for the benefit of the controlling elite, all the while being made to believe that we are free to realize our potential in ways ranging from becoming a celebrity to becoming the president, when in reality, our previously thriving meritocracy was left by the wayside with the creation of the Federal Reserve, and the undermining of antitrust laws.

If one looks at the situation more deeply, it becomes clear that not even the elite are in control. Why then, are their devious actions so well coordinated? Some say it all hinges on secret societies like the Masons, and Skull and Bones, which may have some truth in it, but even that doesn’t explain how systematically the evil-ution has taken place over literally thousands of years. True knowledge of our reality has been brutally suppressed, while ignorance, superstition, and baseless beliefs are encouraged. While it is clear that this offers temporary benefits to the ruling elite, it is also clear that it has put our planet on the path to destruction, which will ultimately include the destruction of the ruling elite as well. It logically follows that the ruling elite are being used as the embodiment of evil by a higher entropic power in its quest to stamp out consciousness and go back to sleep. What is sleep in this context? Nothing more than the illusion of non-being. How does one indulge in the illusion of non-being? By negating reality and engaging in wishful thinking. How does one wake up? By seeking the truth and embracing reality, no matter how painful.

So, the choice is ours. Will we choose conscious being, and the elimination of ignorance, superstition, and baseless beliefs, or will we choose the illusion of non-being, which is synonymous with self-deception, by negating reality and embracing destruction?

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me

Til I met you, I never knew just how untrue those words could be

What am I supposed to do you leave me in a state of disaster
I couldn’t get to Hell much faster if the devil took me by the hand
If the devil took me by the hand, as least I’d have a little fun

You think you’re cool, but I’m no fool, just who do you think you’re kidding
You put me down and boss me around to do your every bidding

What am I supposed to do you leave me in a state of disaster
I couldn’t get to Hell much faster if the devil took me by the hand
If the devil took me by the hand, as least I’d have a little fun

You go away when I want you to stay, you stay when I want you to leave
Then, come what may, you’ll have your say
When you know that you’re making me grieve

Faced with a wall of dart boards and a bucket of darts, it’s only natural to aim and throw. The surprising thing is that despite that fact that one’s odds of getting a bull’s eye are greatly increased, it’s nearly impossible to focus on just one. My optimism quickly faded in the above scenario at the Biannual Art Exhibit in Venice, as a number of my first darts bounced off of rims, and went flying in entirely unexpected directions. There was a happy ending, however, as I did get a bull’s eye with my final dart.

In some ways, the aforementioned is analogous to dealing with those without consciencespsychopaths. When being victimized by various behaviors that are clearly maladaptive and hurtful, it’s only natural to complain. The surprising thing is that despite the fact that, when dealing with psychopaths one’s odds of recognizing and confronting manipulative behavior are increased, it is incredibly hard to focus. Try as you might, your careful observations and well formed arguments will be deflected, and in spite of your best intentions to stay calm, you may find yourself flying off the handle, if you haven’t learned how to keep your emotions in check, or experiencing immobilizing depression, if you have. To make matter’s worse, it’s not just the psychopaths you have to worry about, but all the people who have been ponerized by them. In fact, you might be one of them. If you can identify and root out your own ponerized behavior patterns then you’ve already gone a long way towards hitting the bull’s eye.

I’m all alone my telephone won’t ring

I said goodbye to my personality
Quiet in my heart
Quiet in my mind
I set myself apart
So I could find
Everything I know is true yet I so rarely see
With my eyes that shed so many tears
Everything I’m going through in the realm of space and time
Reflects the lies that I’ve made mine

Victim of circumstance, I’ve done that dance before
And with a backward glance, I ask myself what for
Chaos in my heart
Chaos in my mind It’s tearing me apart
I’ve done my time
Excuse me while I slip away into another world
And break the bonds of sacrificial love
The altar was ignorance, the sacrifice was me
In my attempt at finding unity

I am embracing the love that lets me play my part
I am tracing the trail of lies that broke my heart

I’m all alone my telephone won’t ring
I said goodbye to my personality
Quiet in my heart
Quiet in my mind
I set myself apart
So I could find
Everything I know is true yet I so rarely see
With my eyes that shed so many tears
Beyond this world of form where everything can be so hard
It is so fine and it will always be
I’ll heal my mind
The truth will set me free

Time alone, sometimes longed for, sometimes avoided, sometimes stolen and encroached upon, sometimes meted out as punishment, sometimes blissful, sometimes sad, but for those determined to grow, it is always necessary. For those who are tired of blindly following the program, making the same mistakes and experiencing the same awful consequences, and for those brave and determined enough to face the truth – all sacred cows be damned – time alone is for research, analysis, and reflection, for inner work that will yield results on the outside.

Time alone ceases to be time as we know it. Time alone leaves us free to travel into the past and recover what we’ve lost along the way, and into possible futures to have a deep look at our goals, desires, motives. Time alone permits us to be fully present, eternal even – to merge with nature and go still beyond that into unknown realms and make new discoveries. Time alone, off the beaten path, no ringing phones, no talking heads telling us what to think, see, feel, do, no peer pressure, no energy vampires, just questions that lead to unexpected answers, conscious endings and new beginnings.

I want to be a perfect flower
I’m dancing in the wind
I’m singing in the rain
When the lightning strikes again
I’ll show you

It feels so good to be right
It feels so bad to be wrong
Well, you’re putting up a fight
And you think you’re gonna win
By making me feel bad
I’ll show you

My roots are strong
My roots are deep
I’m crushing stones with my feet
I’ll show you
That I can be a perfect flower

I guess you could say the expression ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ applies to me. When it comes to work, I’m a bit of a chameleon. I’ve tried my hand at jobs as diverse as restaurant management, and furniture re-upholstery, massage therapy, and business administration. Among other things, I spent 7 years working as a floral designer.

Of course, I’ve always been delighted by flowers, but my sensitivity to their many petaled messages was heightened over those seven years. Flowers are not afraid to be different. They are intense in their colors, fragrances, and the gracefulness of their many forms. They are also picky about their environments, and fragile. Give them too much, or not enough of something and they wilt almost immediately. Nonetheless, their messages are strong ones – full of life and creativity.

They speak of the paradox of strength and vulnerability being one and the same. A paradox that women are often well acquainted with. They make the connection between sensitivity, and the polarity of suffering and joy clear for all to see. They are short lived, but they speak of transcendence – not at the gates of death, but while still living. In a certain sense they never really die, and they are never really born. They never lose touch with the eternal spirit from which all things are created. That’s what makes them so intensely beautiful.

So guys, if someone calls you a ‘Pansy’ try to understand what that means. They’ve actually given you a compliment. In allowing yourself to feel (not necessarily act on) your feelings spontaneously, you are making the world a more beautiful place. It is our sorrow and tears that point to the spiritual awareness that is missing in this material world, and it’s our sorrow and tears that can bring it back, by opening us up to the spiritual awareness within ourselves. A spiritual awareness that gives us the ability to discern right from wrong, and good from bad in this ever changing, dualistic world. The next time you truly grieve, be aware that you are on the threshold of transcendence, and don't be ashamed to be a perfect flower.

Balance is something I'm striving for. Whether it's between stillness and movement, heart and mind, style and comfort, function and form, trust and scepticism, there is always a dance that vacillates between the different aspects – sometimes weaving a work of art, and other times a cacophony. In my quest for balance, I have explored many therapies, ways of reflecting and analyzing, and more recently, I have also begun to face how evil
manifests itself in this world we're living in, which has been quite a task to say the least.

I needed a break, or as they say in Italian, I needed to ‘unplug’, and I had the perfect opportunity. I spent a glorious day and a half in Venice with my husband. It was my first visit and it definitely won’t be my last. We booked a hotel, but we didn’t plan out how to spend our time. We just made it up as we went along. We wandered along the meandering alleys leading to St. Mark's Square, where I took the photo above. We ate at an outdoor café with a view of Venice and the seaside. We went to the famous biannual art exhibit in the park, and we went to see ‘The Fabulous Four’ at the cinema near our hotel at the seaside.

I guess you could say the guest star of the movie was ‘The Silver Surfer’, who had managed to survive the destruction of his world by becoming the master of destruction’s slave. He was to be the harbinger of destruction on planet earth, but he had a soft spot for the invisible woman, who resembled his lost love. He saved the invisible woman’s life by catching a missile aimed at her. When she questioned his reason for destroying numerous planets, he responded by saying he didn’t have a choice. She, however, insisted that we always have a choice.

It is not until the invisible woman gives up her life to save the silver surfer that he realizes that he does indeed have a choice. Her act of courage and compassion not only inspires him to bring her back to life, but to confront the master of destruction, refuse to go on being his slave and in so doing, save the earth.

I can relate to that. I certainly feel that part of me could be labeled ‘the invisible woman’, a part that needs to rescue and be rescued. As for the silver surfer, well, you could say that is similar to quick silver, couldn’t you?
